ARC holds your motion, quick and tight.

Thracian builds ARC, a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) core, it closes the loop in hardware, and asks the code for nothing more. Your robot's timing turns exact, and holds that mark each time, no guesswork left to slow the arm, just hardware, clean and prime.

What we build

Three layers, and no operating system between them

Most controllers place a general system between command and drive, it handles the average case, but the worst case may not survive. ARC keeps the deadline fixed in silicon, plain to see, the software only does the work that can wait, and lets hardware be.

Programmable logic

The fabric keeps the beat

Logic built into the chip drives the motor bus each day, no schedule slows it down, and no software gets in the way. A hardware line can stop the arm, whatever the code may do, the stop does not depend on it, and needs no software cue.

Processing system

The system takes its time

A C++ system runs the plan, up on the board's main core, it sends its finished work along, and nothing slows it more. It takes the time it needs to run, and does not rush its way, the fabric's timing holds its course, whatever code may say.

Interface

Plain Python, fast to read

Commands are short, and plain to read, each one reports its state, ARC checks the reach against your arm, before the queue, not late. A pose the arm cannot reach becomes a simple Python fault, not a joint that locks up mid-run, and brings your task to halt.

Demonstrator

A four-actuator harvesting arm

Strawberries make a hard first task, the fruit too soft to wait, the picking time is short each year, and skilled hands come too late. The demonstrator proves the point, on an arm built part by part, every piece a shop can buy, no rare design, no secret art.

It exists to prove one thing alone: the loop shuts down on time, on hardware you can hold in hand, a simple build, well timed.

University programme

Units on loan to robotics labs

Thracian lends ARC units out, to labs that push it hard, you keep the kit, and run the code, no limits and no guard. We learn what broke, and what fell short, each fault a lesson learned, so the next unit shipped from that, has all those lessons earned.
